MONTESSORI

Help me do it myself.

An approach that gives children a real part in their everyday world.

A prepared environment.

Low shelves. Materials within reach. A clear place for each thing. A thoughtful environment helps children explore and begin to make choices.

Instead of filling every moment, we leave time to look closely, repeat an activity and try again.

Learning through doing.

Carrying a basket, sorting objects or pouring water can be absorbing work for a young child. Simple activities bring movement, attention and purpose together.

The aim is not to hurry towards the next milestone. It is to support the small steps a child is ready to take.

THE ADULT’S ROLE

A steady presence.
A helping hand when it’s needed.

Observe first. Offer a clear demonstration. Allow time for a child to try. Gentle guidance can give children both support and room to develop confidence.
